Get It Growing

In 2020, I co-founded a social venture, ‘Get it Growing’, which sells organic, cow-dung based manure pellets for home gardening and potted plants. We partnered with female farmers to collect cow-dung, and formulated a product, made of 100% organic ingredients to provide an all-rounded growth to plants. Through this, we not only provide an easier alternative to home gardening, but also support farmers by providing them with an additional source of income. I got the business registered with the GST office in India as a proprietorship, and file tax returns myself. We sell the product through Amazon, local nurseries, and our website (www.getitgrowing.in/). I have also created a social media campaign and marketed my products through my local residents’ welfare association. Go Kasht

Driven by my profound commitment to environmental sustainability, I founded The ‘Go Kasht’ Project, a social initiative that promotes cow dung logs designed to replace wood as a more economical and environmentally-friendly fuel. I worked relentlessly to increase the production of Go Kasht in two cities so far and have partnered with 13 cowsheds to collect cow dung, providing farmers with an additional source of income.

I collaborated with a government official from the Central Pollution Control Board of India, aiming to popularise Go Kasht and expand its distribution across the country. I convinced four crematoriums to switch to this environmentally-friendly solution over wood in funeral pyres, saving hundreds of tonnes of wood. Further, I reached out to Resident Welfare Associations, leveraging word of mouth to encourage over 800 households to use Go Kasht in bonfires. Additionally, I distribute Go Kasht to underprivileged individuals living on roadsides, offering them a safer alternative to wood for keeping warm during harsh winters.

I was recognised by the Round Table, Chandigarh, for being a Youth Leader in Sustainability.

Coding

I am a certified IOS and Android App Developer, and Game Developer I did courses to become proficient with Javascript, Flutter, HTML, JSON, Python. I’ve learnt many different languages, designed websites, applications and games. I have also coded various applications like a platform to provide a platform to order snacks from different states from across the country, a platform to provide a platform to exchange used books, a platform to aid in recognising written letters and words and converting them into text, a multiplayer car racing game.

Saksham

As I worked with Go Kasht, the project not only reinforced that every small step counts in our collective journey towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious future, but also opened up my eyes to multitude of problems that impact farmers in rural India, including low levels of financial literacy amongst them. In a bid to support them, I designed a financial literacy guide in Hindi and conducted an informational session for over 30 farmers.

Unicorn Dreams

Unicorn Dreams is an article series, wherein I interview India’s leading entrepreneurs. My interest in entrepreneurship was sparked by launching and running Get It Growing, and it struck me that I learned a lot of valuable lessons listening to interviews of successful entrepreneurs. However, most of these were in English, which leaves out a majority of the Indian audience who converse in local dialects like Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. That’s when I decided to launch an article series, to spread the inspiring stories of successful entrepreneurs, to everyone without the barrier of language. At the same time, the series allowed me to interact with some of the greatest minds in the country. I would directly reach out to leads found on Google, and spend time sitting with the entrepreneurs to interview them. I was able to hone my interview skills, to be able to actually interview some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. The series helped me develop skills such as communication, listening, confidence, research, determination, knowledge, perseverance, curiosity.

I have interviewed 18 entrepreneurs, such as Mr. Ashneer Grover of BharatPe and popular Shark, Mr. Aman Gupta, Shark and Co-Founder of boAt, Mr. Harsh Jain, the CEO of Dream11, Mr. Anil Rai Gupta, Managing Director of Havells.

I have also converted the series into a podcast on Spotify and a channel on Youtube.

I’ve grown up in a joint family, where every single member offered me a new perspective. One thing that remained common: Our culture. I’ve had the privilege of engaging with a variety of cultural acts. For example, yearly, I visit and dance at ‘garba’ festivals, an annual celebration where people gather together and dance. For me, my culture is a way to express who I am, and discover who I am.

Internships

While interning at Anicut Capital, a private equity management fund, I researched various rising startups and built a report on the Education Technology Industry.

At Bajaj Capital, a $3Bn investment management company, I shadowed heads of finance, HR, operations and marketing and prepared a project report to analyze the existing trends of different Mutual Funds

At Diligent Power, a company operating two 600 MW thermal power plants in Chhattisgarh, I collaborated on a project focused on optimising power distribution channels. I gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire power generation processes, from coal transportation to electricity distribution, and its significant role in driving economic development in India.

I also built a website for Young Bhaskar and Bal Bhaskar, leading children’s magazines in India. Employing HTML code, I incorporated engaging CSS and styling elements to appeal to a young audience.

Furthermore, I engaged with 115+ customers to gather feedback and suggestions for site improvement.
